Top Gear’s Stig to be homeless as natural habitat destroyed

The Dunsfold Aerodrome, more commonly known as the Top Gear Test Track, is not going to be around for much longer with plans for housing and business development to replace the facility. Confirmed by the BBC, the Waverley Borough Council has approved plans which will have all runways closed to make way for a potential 1,800 new homes as well as an expansion of the existing Dunsfold Business Park which already provides for 100 businesses.

While not a heavily active airfield, the facility was previously used to provide flight testing, maintenance, repair, storage, hangarage and apron parking for those in aviation related industries. More importantly it set the stage for a technical figure 8 track where manufacturers could duke it out for the honours of placing at the top the Top Gear Power Lap time board.
